Topic: Overcoming First Time Jitters
In our annual member survey, we received some feedback from new members and those who are newer to plein air painting expressing nervousness around the idea of attending a paint-out or a competition (like Plein Air Grand Marais) for the very first time.
In this Third Thursday Shop Talk, we’ll start from scratch and cover everything you need to know for attending your first paint-out… from signing up, packing supplies you might need, arriving on location, checking in, set up, and even steps for once you return home with your work from the day.
Then, we’ll expand to painting competitions; what additional considerations should you take into account for participating in a competition. We’ll chat about planning, packing, how to approach making enough paintings for entry, framing, submission… and very importantly… socializing, celebrating, and being welcomed into this cool community of like-minded humans!
