OIL Painting, Advancing Your Skills

Celebrated oil painter Scott Lloyd Anderson will help you build your foundational techniques and develop new skills while painting a variety of subjects in oils. You’ll continue to learn color mixing, work on design, brushwork, and your understanding of color as value while you paint subjects of your choice. Here's your chance to get expert help with an image you've been meaning to paint! Michele will demonstrate her painting process and how she plans out a painting so you can be more successful with yours. Emphasizing composition, she'll teach you to use value and color comparisons to help you capture the story you want to tell. Individual help at your easel. Wellness through art Retreat

Painting The Autumn Landscape

Autumn is one of the best times to be out on location studying the landscape as it becomes saturated in color! There will be a lecture/demo both mornings where we will discuss seeing color as value, mixing color and a discussion on how to evaluate color intensity based on the effect of light. In the afternoons,I will work with students at their easels. Students of all skill levels are welcome to participate in this workshop, though some experience painting in oil will be helpful for this class. Autumn’s Wild Waters Workshop

Paint three masterpieces that capture the beauty of the spectacular North Shore while exploring expressive watercolor techniques that will take your paintings to the next level. My goal is not only to help you create beautiful paintings during the workshop, but to give you new tools, approaches, and confidence that will continue to inspire your watercolor journey long after we've finished painting together. Participants will be provided with their own 5' table, drawing guides to transfer from, reference photos, a typed outline (so you can focus on instruction vs. taking notes), and step-by-step instruction through all stages of the paintings. Subjects for painting can include painting from a still life, copying the works of master painters, or learning to paint figures and portraits. Monthly Intermediate Drawing Class

I have been offering classes since 2017, and cover basic concepts in perspective, foreshortening, value, sight-size drawing, freehand drawing, composition, tree anatomy, and other topics requested by the students. Classes are taught in Saint Anthony Park in a private studio, with frequent outdoor sessions and an occasional museum field visit.
