Autumn’s Wild Waters Workshop

Paint three masterpieces that capture the beauty of the spectacular North Shore while exploring expressive watercolor techniques that will take your paintings to the next level. My goal is not only to help you create beautiful paintings during the workshop, but to give you new tools, approaches, and confidence that will continue to inspire your watercolor journey long after we've finished painting together. Participants will be provided with their own 5' table, drawing guides to transfer from, reference photos, a typed outline (so you can focus on instruction vs. taking notes), and step-by-step instruction through all stages of the paintings. Studio Oil Painting

Continue your journey as an oil painter! This class will be customized to advance individual painters' skills.
Subjects for painting can include painting from a still life, copying the works of master painters, or learning to paint figures and portraits. Students will be encouraged to work at larger sizes and to learn to employ broad brush methods, including expanding brush handling techniques and working with mediums. Learn more and register here.

Come and enjoy a creatively enriching experience of developing a painting from the fertile ground of your sketchbook. In this 6-week class, I will lead you through a process of exploring ideas through your sketchbook. We will develop them through compositional iterations for the first two weeks. Then, you will select one composition to explore further in oil on canvas over the remaining four weeks. We will walk through the process together using the principles of the prismatic palette. OIL Painting, Advancing Your Skills

Celebrated oil painter Scott Lloyd Anderson will help you build your foundational techniques and develop new skills while painting a variety of subjects in oils. You’ll continue to learn color mixing, work on design, brushwork, and your understanding of color as value while you paint subjects of your choice. Scott will provide artist demonstrations, and you’ll receive individual help at the easel as you build your skills, knowledge, and confidence. You’ll work from a variety of source materials, benefit from artist demonstrations, and receive individual help at the easel as you build your skills, knowledge and confidence. exploring Underpainting for Pastel and Other media

Lisa Stauffer guides an exploration of loose underpaintings using watercolor, oil stains, inks, and gesso to create colorful foundations for your paintings. Bring reference photos or artwork you love. Lisa will present ideas and demonstrate, and you’ll receive individual help at the easel as you build skills, knowledge, and confidence. Course is suitable for all adult learners, beginning to advanced. Cost: $249.60 WBLCA members, $312 for non-members, plus $45 material fee payable to instructor. Monthly Intermediate Drawing Class

I have been offering classes since 2017, and cover basic concepts in perspective, foreshortening, value, sight-size drawing, freehand drawing, composition, tree anatomy, and other topics requested by the students. Classes are taught in Saint Anthony Park in a private studio, with frequent outdoor sessions and an occasional museum field visit. Students of all skill levels are welcome to participate in this workshop, though some experience painting in oil will be helpful for this class.
