This is a one day plein air workshop, focusing on atmosphere, why it's so important, and how an artist can make atmosphere the motif of a painting. We start by asking the question, what inspired you to paint a particular scene?  Concentrating on this one idea will help you through the painting process, bring clarity to your work, and make your paintings strong. We will break down the landscape into: line, shape, value, temperature of color, intensity of color, and quality of mark.  It’s important to understand each aspect as it relates to achieving atmosphere.  Kim will offer individual attention at the easel.

There is no demonstration during workshop hours, as Kim offers a public juror demonstration on Friday, September 22 at 11am before the competition exhibit opens.
