Winter Plein Air is an annual painting retreat at YMCA Camp Menogyn, a wilderness camp with lodge and cabins located a half-mile walk/ski/snowshoe across Bearskin Lake at an entry to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). The parking lot at YMCA Camp Menogyn is 31.5 miles up the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais, Minnesota.
WPA is not a competition. It is a painting expedition to a wilderness camp to spend 5 days painting the beauty of the BWCAW and enjoying the camaraderie of other painters. 2020 was our 11th annual retreat. There will be no retreat in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Subscribe to our WPA Newsletter for information about paint-outs this winter and future retreats.
